How much does this cost?
My brother bought an AR that was built in 2003 so it has a muzzle brake on it that gets bolted to the barrel. This comes loose all the time and he now wants something a little more "permanent." Would Oly thread the barrel if we brought it in? _________________ Deuteronomy 31:6 |

IIRC, and this was awhile back; so the price “quote” may have changed since then! but at that time threading a barrel was $65.00 ... I would just call the factory and get a current quote; and IIRC, they still offer the service … last I checked!
Edit to add: I use to have SNS Ind. Inc. out of Snohomish, WA. thread my barrels, but he has since gone out of business. _________________ The Nonsense Stops! … when the Hammer Drops!

Mega® is a machine shop; but I don’t think they do barrel threading; as they are a manufacture … and yes, in most cases the barrel has to be taken off the receiver; depending on the tool used at the shop  _________________ The Nonsense Stops! … when the Hammer Drops!

I've had Mega do a number of things in the past, to include welding parts together. I am sure they have the capabilities of threading parts. (I used to know a guy that worked there before the weapons manufacturing.) _________________ Deuteronomy 31:6 |

Will do! Also, it seems we cannot get the old muzzle brake off... Took out all of the set screws out and it doesn't come off. I guess we'll leave that to Oly!  _________________ Deuteronomy 31:6 |

Sometimes the brakes take a "set" due to carbon and some other factors. You can remove it the way we would: remove the set screws, take a block of wood and a hammer, and just beat it off from the back. Very nice. That is what I was thinking of doing. Wasn't sure if maybe it was also held on by a c-clip or anything. He also took a carbon cleaner to it and not sure if he got it off yet. We'll go ahead and use the wood block trick for sure! _________________ Deuteronomy 31:6 |

What I found out today is that, Oly won't do it! So I took it to J&S and they quoted $60 to include the stripping down and the A2 cage. That is what my brother wanted to do so that is where we took it and dropped off the barrel today. _________________ Deuteronomy 31:6 |
