or anything else for that matter?
I see images of it all over the place now, especially with stippling on polymer handgun frames, plastic grips, to pretty much everything plastic or fiberite on an AR15 being 'Stippled' ... so I picked up an inexpensive Weller® 8-Piece Hobby Iron Kit this afternoon from Lowes, and I’m going to try my hand at it, and start off with an A2 grip.
here a pic of an A2 grip that I like; and this is the look, that I’ll try and achieve.

Thats a good place to practice GM. I saw a glock that had been done like that......seemed a mistake to me, but it looked a little more rough than what you pictured there  _________________ SHOOTER |

Same here .. I saw a few Glock pics that looked awful. If a person takes their time doing it ..it might work. Some of them look like it would tear a hand up. I am curious how it would turn out .. Globe appears to be a perfectionist ..don't blush !!  |

so far, I pretty much lack the skills at stippling process! … it’s not the irons fault either, it's my weak eyes and the lack of a steady hand for the detailed placement of the irons-tip! but all-in-all, it doesn’t really look all that bad; as I have only started at the top 1in. area of the AR15’s grip; I may try a different style tip, and see if I can make any other patterns in the plastic. _________________ The Nonsense Stops! … when the Hammer Drops!

I'm thinking they might have used a temperature-controlled soldering station. Some of them you can adjust across a wide range, and they use a thermocouple in the tip to maintain a constant temperature.
The one in the picture looks just like the rubber roof on my camper that got rained on right after I got done painting it.

Thinking about your stippling project. I wonder if a heat gun would get the grip pliable enough (without turning it into a blob) to take and impression? If it did, you could then take a course grit sand paper to make an impression (or other rough surface item) to save you from doing each stipple individually. Just thinking, which can get one into trouble, errr. Make sure and work well ventilated GM and post pics when you get finished!

I did my glock 19, some guys dont like the looks but to me function is whats important. I also gound off the finger grooves to fit my hand.
It may have devalued the gun...but its a glock and will never have any collecter value so you cares. _________________ Hi my name is Newbie and I have BRD

I think the stippling challenge came out okay for my fist attempt with the process; here’s a pic of my current progress.
I’m not quite done with the forward grip face yet; as I will work the stippling pattern around the A2 contours.

thanks HKC, with the A2 style grip already featuring the textured panels on the sides, I can only notice just a little ‘additional gripping surface’ maybe it will present more grip texture … once I complete the forward face area. _________________ The Nonsense Stops! … when the Hammer Drops!

Looking good GM. So what's next on the stipple-agenda?
I only did some PMags. Tried a Dremeltool on one too, because I thought that would speed up the process, but that just created divots (like in a golfbal) and didn't add any grip. _________________ Rolf
