as many of you well know! I was fortunate enough to attend the 2010 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, NV. earlier this year, and for me, this was my first time in attendance to such an event; and by doing so, I went as a Member of the ‘Olympic Arms Owners Association’ and carried that name proudly on my SHOT Badge, as I toured the various Booths within the Sands Convention Center.
As I wondered the center, and as I was checking out the various vendors booths, I saw a lot of new and innovative products being marketed, as well as a lot of the older and more traditional ‘name brand’ vendors and their customary product line.
For the most part, I concentrated my time at SHOT to the AR15’s and the accessory product lines of merchandise presented at the show, i.e. aftermarket AR15 accessories, scopes, flashlights, knives, and a wide variety of assorted ‘tacti-cool’ gismos and gear.
I visited some of the bigger name booths, as well as a few newer merchants that had something new to offer the discerning AR15 owner; and as I toured the facility ‘as a newbie’ I was intrigued by the vast amount of vendor’s, products, and gadgetry offered at the SHOT; which brings me to this thread at hand … The Stone River® Ceramic Folding Knife ‘Review’
I was at the Stone River™ Booth early on day one, as we (LongCarbine and I) work our way around the lower levels of the convention center; and I was drawn to their booth by the ‘white blade’ folding knife that you see before you here, in the images.
So after returning home from the SS, I started sending out a few product review request to some of the vendors who’s booths I visited while at SHOT; and I was extremely delighted when I received a reply from Jim Economos, of Stone River Gear, LLC
I asked Jim for a pair of the model #SRG3TLW ceramics folding knives; and in return, I would perform a ‘product review’ of his product here on OA2.org, and with the other, I would offer it up to our membership, in one of our monthly giveaways.
So with all of that said; I will perform an 8-10 month product review of this knife, and replace it with my ‘daily carry’ knife, and I will also field test the knife this coming Deer season, and dress-out some big game with the knife in order to see how it holds up to that rigorous task.
As for the giveaway portion of this Stone River™ knife review; I will offer up the second knife in the month of March, and I will also determine the criteria for that giveaway, as the month draws near.

well having never handled a ‘ceramic blade’ knife before; I was quite impressed with the blades sharpness and overall design and construction; and after handling the knife at the SHOT Show and looking over the home cutlery knives, I just had to see what all of the fuss was about.
and I’ve known that Boker® has had a ceramic constructed knife offering for quite a few years now, but never desired to attain one for my personal collection, due to a bit of skepticism I guess? so with that said, this ceramic blade is extremely sharp, and yes it can with a set of instructions.
| Quote: | • Your ceramic knife is designed as a precision cutting tool. Ideal for use in the field for skinning and dressing game. Excellent for straight cuts of fruits, vegetables, boneless meats, paper and rope.
• Ceramic knives are very sharp but are not intended for chopping and cutting hard items such as bone, staples or frozen products.
• Do not use your knife to pry or in applications that require flexing or twisting.
• Avoid dropping your knife on hard surfaces.
• Hand wash with water and liquid dish soap. Do not wash in the dishwasher.
• Always store your folding knife in the closed position. Store your rigid knives in its sheath for proper protection. |

GM sounds like a nice knife.I have had a Boker folder for somewhere around 15 years. Was a gift from my employees and I carried it for a couple of years. was always nervous about breaking it so put it away.
I was never impressed with the edge on it though. Just looked at it and still as good as the edge was when new. It has to be set back to Boker to be sharpened. I guess I will do that and see if it gets any better.
Keep us up on yours as time goes by and you use it. |

sounds like a pretty nice knife gm. ive always like the ceramic cooking knives. just seems to me that its definately not meant for tactical use, it definately has specific uses. depending on the cost i dont know if i could bring myself to buy somethin that i know could break pretty easily. that being said i guess a regular knife could break by dropping it or hitting bone or somethin.
my conclusion, without having handled one, would be a pass. |

so far I have showed the ‘white blade’ ceramic knife to at least twenty-five guys at work, and all of them like the knife, and are asking similar questions about the blades durability, and how do you sharpen the blades edge. _________________ The Nonsense Stops! … when the Hammer Drops!

Lol... can you recommend a knife for my locker? I want to decorate it with knives. _________________ Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. Globemaster,
Add me to the list of people interested in how the ceramic knife works out for you. Also, did I miss the explanation of if and how it would be sharpened?

sounds good cbsamscan, and I’ll probably end up having to email the company, in order to find out about the sharpening process; and so far it’s still ultra-sharp.
in addition: I had to apply a drop of LocTite® to the (2) screws that retain the pocket clip on day two of carrying the knife; but this is not unusual for the pocket-folders, as I had to LocTite® the screws on my CRKT® M16™ knife too. _________________ The Nonsense Stops! … when the Hammer Drops!

no it's not an ‘assist-out’ type; I just use the tab/button on the blade, to flip it open. _________________ The Nonsense Stops! … when the Hammer Drops!
