Yer a sick man....

But to shootermcmillan's point, yes ~ there are a lot of choices, and choices are good. Again, I doubt that the 300 OSSM weill ever be made by Winchester/Olin®, but it will take a foothold in the AR field there is no doubt. This catridge is uniquely suited to the AR15 platform, and is likely the biggest/most powerful hunting catridge we will see for a long time to come. Without Olympic Arms' custom and proprietary parts design for the WSSM line-up, this is simply not possible.

This year at the SHOT Show, Remington "introduced" the Remington 300AR AGAIN at this years show. Why? Because in the last year they have apparently not been able to get the cartridge to perform as advertised. They have not shipped guns or ammo in that caliber in any quantity at all.

Well............from what I have read about the 30RemAR it's balistics are about that of the .300 savage. While thats not terrible, the last thing anyone really needs is yet another round between 7.62x39 and the .308. I have been monitoring this situation for a good long time and for me personally, going to an AR10 platform is not the answer I've been looking for in a TRUE big game stopper. As any of you know who have read my posts I am not a fan of the cannon for game hunting. Yet I dont want to hunt with the bare minimum either. In Colorado the minimum leagal hunting round must be 6mm/.243 or larger. Which would leave the door open to a host of cartridges that would be technically leagal but at best would be marginal for an ethical shot on serious big game. 6x45,7.62x39, 6.5 grendal,6.8spc all are fine for whitetail hunting but I couldn't stalk an an elk with a straight face. Even the .243 is considered by many to be "iffy" for elk(I myself am ok with it), but I prefer the .30 cal in wieghts of 150+.
My personal hope here is that the .300WSSM will be the serious big game AR15 that I've been waiting for all these many years. The .243 & .25WSSM's were really close to what I've been wanting so I was dragging my feet while I serached for bigfoot(that elusive 30cal) Laughing

As more and more people get the 300's, more and more people like them. Yes there is a learning curve, and yes, there is a curve on the cartridge itself. The rifle itself is a proven commodity. More development is needed on the cartridge, but the velocities are there, and accuracy is attainable as well. See this:

"The 300 OSSM lives up to its name……it’s AWESOME! I was skeptical about the performance and accuracy of a 30 caliber on the AR-15 platform, but boy was I wrong. The 300 OSSM functions like a dream and is as accurate as any bolt action I’ve ever owned. The reduced recoil of a semi-automatic is an added bonus. Out of the box I am shooting ˝ MOA groups with the Berger 155 grain VLD. I couldn’t be happier with my 300 OSSM Gamestalker.

Thanks,

Yes Dustin is a compensated endorser of Oly products, but the proof is there; Berger backs it up. Take a look. http://www.bergerbullets.com/I.....ories.html
