ARMATAC 150 round drum

Postby Shermanator » Sun Feb 27, 2011 1:14 pm

I ordered one today, was about $415 shipped, with a loader and is supposed to come with 160 rounds of ammo.

I hope to take it out on the 13th of March and try it out.

looks like a nice drum 8)

The SAW-MAG™ offers for the first time a reliable and efficient 150 rd magazine for the .223/5.56mm rifle. Designed to fit NATO standard (STANAG-4179) rifles, the SAW-MAG™ quickly converts a rifleman with a standard M4 into automatic support personnel. The flexibility of such force multiplication makes the SAW-MAG™ the most dominant accessory for the M4/M16/M27/HK416 family of weapons.

The SAW-MAG™ was designed to have the lowest operating drag due to friction. The ammunition is contained individually inside the drums on sprockets, each cartridge gets its own separate space, the ammunition is picked off the sprockets when they spin, not a typical high friction convergence found on cheaper designs. This is why our system does not require graphite lubrication to work. Instead of funnelling the ammunition, the SAW-MAG™ uses a proprietary design that allows the ammunition to always be in a singular stream which results in a very low friction operation.

Well, took it out today and it worked great.

I did have some problems the first time and ARMATAC sent me a new loader, however I think my main problem was my old barrel/bolt set up.

Here is a video of dumping 150 rounds all on full auto :D :D :D

wow, $415?

thats crazy, i dont think ide ever pay that much for a mag unless i was bill gates, but in that case i wouldnt need guns, ide have a hoard of robots ready at my command!

i cant even really see paying for a beta c mag either. dont get me wrong i think theyre cool, just not cool enough for the price tag.

That thing is huge and a little pricey. My Beta really adds to the weight of my carbine but worth it for the 100 rounds at a time factor IMHO. If I had a full auto weapon I'd probably have to have one of those monsters to though. :thumbs up:

You know it's cool when you're using a high speed cable modem and it buffers halfway through the dump and it's still shooting

Wanted to update something about this.

Last time I took it out to the range back in June, I let my friend do a 150 round dump, it shot all 150 rounds with no hiccups, we also had the 100 round surefire mag that we ran twice with no problems. Was using 55gr FMJ Brown Bear ammo.

So about 3 weeks ago I received an email from ARMATAC asking me if I wanted to send my drum back to them for some upgrades. I said yes and they emailed me the pre-paid shipping label for it. Got it back yesterday, they also sent me another modified loader. It's the 5 round plunger loader.
